New Zealand’s Newest Organic Apple Variety Has Arrived in Vietnam

New Zealand’s Newest Organic Apple Variety Dazzle has arrived in Vietnam with large celebrations at retail stores and Malls across the country.

New Zealand’s largest and number one, Organic Apple Grower, Bostock New Zealand has partnered with Vietnam’s largest premium fruit importer, Tony Fruit, to exclusively deliver Organic Dazzle Apples to Vietnamese consumers.

Bostock New Zealand International Market Manager, Jane Maclean says it’s very exciting to be launching organic Dazzle in Vietnam and putting it firmly in the spotlight with a large official event at the Aeon Mall in Ho Chi Minh City on Saturday 28th May.

Last year’s promotions were cancelled due to the months-long covid outbreak, so it’s great to be able to officially introduce our organic Dazzle apple to the market this season. Especially since Dazzle is a variety which we have specifically developed for the Asia market, with its sweet, crunchy and delicious taste. We are excited to get more end consumers trying and buying it as we know it will quickly become their new favourite apple.

Alongside the amazing eating attributes, Dazzle has a strong, appealing brand. Something that has enabled Bostock and Tony Fruit to stand out from the many other apples in the market and successfully attract new Vietnam consumers to try Dazzle apples.

The Organic Dazzle brand reflects what a lot of people have been dreaming of during the long, Covid lockdowns – escaping to the outdoors for an adventure in nature.  As well as being more focused on health and well-being.

“Organic apples are grown naturally without the use of chemicals or synthetic fertilisers. When you choose a Bostock organic apple – you are looking at the safest and healthiest choice for your body. But as a result of not using conventional sprays – our apples aren’t always cosmetically perfect. While organic apples can sometimes have more cosmetic imperfections, they are nutrient-dense and full of flavour and just as dazzling, if not more, in its eating experience,” Ms Maclean said.

The Bostock family has been growing organic apples in New Zealand for over 25 years and has been committed to keeping up with the global demand for organic produce. In 2018, the company set up an office in Vietnam.

Ms Nguyen Huong, Bostock’s Market Representative in Vietnam, says it has been really rewarding to see the demand grow for organic apples in the last two years.

“Vietnamese are placing a stronger focus and priority on their personal health and food safety and as more retailers move to stock organic product, organic is becoming more accessible and widely available to the average consumer.”

Tony Fruit representative said they are very excited to have access to larger volumes of Organic Dazzle Apples from Bostock this year.

“It’s great to see the increased volume of Organic Dazzle apples shipped to Vietnam this season to meet the growing demand across our retail and sales channels. This is Tony Fruit’s second year partnering with Bostock New Zealand on organic Dazzle and we enjoy having their full trust and confidence in moving to exclusive distribution this season. Early arrivals of organic Dazzle have been selling strongly across Vietnam.”

The other unique aspect of the Organic Dazzle Apples, are the compostable stickers used on them. Bostock New Zealand was the first New Zealand apple grower to use compostable stickers on its apples as it moves to use more sustainable packaging that is better for the environment. This also includes recyclable cardboard trays for the Organic Dazzle Apples.

“Our Organic Dazzle compostable stickers aren’t plastic; they are made from plant materials and are compostable. Our sustainable packaging for our Organic Dazzle apples is a real point of difference for Bostock New Zealand,” says Ms MacLean.

The New Zealand Trade and Enterprise Trade Commissioner, Joe Nelson officially launched the Organic Dazzle event in Aeon Mall and cut the ribbon, launching Organic Dazzle apples to the Vietnam market.

Mr Nelson says New Zealand’s apple industry is rated the best in the world.

“New Zealand apple growers are agile and innovative. They use world-leading science and technology to deliver to ever-changing customer demands. The New Zealand horticulture industry is investing in new varieties, which are earning premium prices in the global marketplace.”

“New Zealand apples enjoy popularity among Vietnamese consumers because New Zealand fresh produce has a good image which connects with high-quality apples, grown in favourable natural conditions,”

Dazzle Apples were developed over 20 years by Plant and Food Research – a New Zealand Government Crown Research Institute.

Ms Maclean says the Organic Dazzle is globally exclusive to Bostock New Zealand and will be available at leading Retailers such as Aeon, Lotte, BRG, Mega Market, Central Retails, Plus Annam Gourmet, Organica, Organik shops and other channels.
